Breed Information

A Golden Doddle is a hybrid of a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. This cross provides the best benefits of both breeds. Doodles provide a drastic difference in shedding. Their intelligence is above average as well. The benefit of Hybrid Vigor is that the genetic defects that are common to specific breeds cannot be replicated in a cross of the two breeds. Personality-wise if you've ever known a Golden Doodle then hands down you know what amazing dogs they are. If you don't know the one you definitely should.

Golden Retrievers have fur which grows only to a certain length and then falls out or "SHEDS."

Poodles don't have fur, rather they have hair that grows and needs to be trimmed. The coat is a softer and more cotton type of coat. When brush it's very fluffy and full in appearance.

Golden Doodles vary in their coat consistency and it depends on how much percentage there is of retriever or poodle. Golden Retrievers take at least 2-3 years for their coat to blossom.

A Golden Doodle puppy may look like a retriever puppy as a young puppy. It may appear quite uneven especially around 5-6 months. It takes patience but it will fill in, but probably not until well over a year.

In case you are wondering about the F1 and the F1B’s and so on, let me explain.

The F1 standard size Golden Doodle was the first of the Golden Doodles. The mature weight is approximately 50 to 70 pounds.

The F1 is 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle.

The F2 is an F1 Golden Doodle bred back to an F1. The Multigen is BOTH parents are Golden Doodles.

The size of a dog is determined at adulthood. The estimated size of a puppy is an educated guess by the breeder and remember, color and coat types can also vary (wavy, straight, and curly). Shedding also varies and in most cases is none to minimal.
